The Hanen Centre

The Hanen Centre is a non-profit organization based in Canada. Its mission is to “enable young children to develop the best possible language and literacy skills.” Erin and Kate are both certified in Hanen classes, which give families tools to support their child’s communication through everyday interactions. The website has wonderful articles and tips written for parents of children with language delays and/or developmental differences.

First Words Project

The First Words Project is a research project created out of Florida State University. It’s goal is to “identify early signs of developmental language disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and other communication delays in children from 9 to 24 months of age.” The website offers articles for parents about language development, how to use everyday activities to support communication, growth chart videos, and more.

American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)

ASHA is the national organization for credentialing audiologists, speech and language pathologists and speech language hearing scientists. Erin and Kate are both certified members of ASHA. The website provides information about current best practices, continuing education, and research in the field of speech and language pathology.
